Organizing DNAzymes into an Array
The DNAzyme used in these experiments cleaves itself in the presence of Cu2+. The idea behind the experiment is shown
in the schematic below:
The pattern in the top section is a striped repeat of 32 nm. where the yellow
stripes are from DNA hairpins and the white stripes are from the DNAzyme. Upon exposure to Cu2+, the
DNAzyme cleaves and the stripe separation increases to 64 nm. The AFM patterns for the two states are
shown below:
